WHA pka Capital Area OB/GYN Shares Call with WHA pka Centre OB/GYN

September 2, 2009

To our patients:

The physicians of Capital Area Ob/Gyn and Centre Ob/Gyn are dedicated to providing excellent and safe care to all of our patients.  Studies have shown that sleep deprivation can adversely affect job performance and the quality of medical care.  Obstetrics is a field that is particularly associated with long hours on call that is physically and mentally demanding to the physician.

With this is mind we are pleased to announce a change in the way we practice obstetrics and gynecology at Rex Hospital.  Beginning September 25th, 2009 our physician groups will begin sharing responsibilities on Labor and Delivery, the inpatient wards and the Emergency Department.  This will begin with weekends and will be expanding to weeknights at some time in the future.  This practice model has been used successfully at many hospitals around the country and locally at Durham Regional Hospital since 2004.

Capital Area Ob/Gyn and Centre Ob/Gyn are both part of the Women’s Health Alliance and all of our physicians are board certified or board eligible in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology.  Together we have a wealth of clinical experience in our fields and have always provided up to date and considerate patient care.  We anticipate the arrangement will allow us to continue to serve you, our patients, with the quality of care you expect and deserve.

Sincerely,

The Physicians of Centre and Capital Area Ob/Gyn
